Really great meats. Really my only complaint is they have no mashed potatoes, no greens. But yummy and decent other options that appear to be house made like the beans, chili, and potato salad. Awesome house made BBQ sauces too!

This place is FANTASTIC! Their meats are cooked to perfection and the flavors are phenomenal. They catered a private event for us and everything was handled so finely, we didn't have to worry about anything. Everyone loved the food and argued over who got to take home the leftovers! Hands down the best BBQ in Sacramento.

Brisket is amazing. Ribs are ok. Potato salad is excellent. Mac & cheese is slightly better than average

I'm not use to vinager based bbq sauce but the ribs were fall of the bone delicious, the potato salad, macaroni salad were both good. I was told the mac n cheese were good. Loved the onion ring I tasted nice thick and very crunchy lol. I tasted the cherry cobbler (never been a fan of cooked cherries) but it was alrite. I'm full and will taste my peach cobbler in the morning or afternoon with some ice cream😊

Absolutely phenomenal. Perfect chew and bark on the brisket, the pork was super tender and the hot links have just the right amount of heat. I got the combo burrito and didn't come close to finishing it. There's a reason this place has been around for 30 years.

OMG, delicious!!! This was a sweet, family-owned restaurant that makes delicious BBQ. They also had a great catering menu that looked yummy and affordable. I lived in Texas for a bit and this place sure comes close, if not exceeds, the BBQ I miss!

This is one of those places that you'd never find without a recommendation. It's not the prettiest place but you will feel like home and the BBQ is pretty out of this world! The brisket and ribs are my go to but hot links, turkey, pulled pork are all great to. Texas BBQ that even Texans rave about

Been eating here for 20 years. Mesquite smoked beef and pork doesn't get any better than this. The brisket has a good smoke flavor, tender, served without BBQ sauce. If you want to add sauce, there are three choices. They have the original BBQ sauce, sweet, or spicy. The chili is made with brisket. Delicious!

They give enormous portions of food which was excellent just didn't care for the BBQ sauce. Otherwise great mesquite flavor

Been coming to JR's for years. It honestly is one of the best places to get the bang for your buck. Furthermore, its increasingly rare you will fine a place in Sac that will do smoked bbq do well without bbq being necessary.

Their brisket!!!!! In a bun is amazing! Jr himself is there at times and he is such a gentleman. All their food is amazing. My go to order is always brisket pulled sandwhich, jailhouse chili, and their mac. And sometimes an order of their burger if im feeling extra hungry.
